Meet Instep new comer Olivia Morcom!

Name – Olivia Morcom

Age – 16

How long have you been dancing at instep? I have been dancing at instep for roughly about 2 months.

What’s your favourite memory from instep? My favourite memory would either have to be my first weekend residency or the November show. During the residency I was able to become fully comfortable with changing and learning new material. I have never danced contemporary before, so changing my dance style seemed increasingly difficult. But over the weekend I was able to talk to other dancers that have been at instep for a long time and the memories they spoke of seemed amazing and I wanted in on it.

What is the most rewarding thing dancing for instep? The most rewarding thing about dancing with instep is the effort and the time that may be dedicated to a certain dance or a show. The amount of effort that is put in by everyone is amazing, and it really shows through the reactions the audience give when seeing instep’s dance pieces.

I am happiest when I am… learning a new dance, and trying new material that I have not come across before. Being new to instep, learning new material and choreography is always exciting.

The cheesiest song on my ipod is… the cheesiest song on my ipod has to be either ‘call me maybe’ or ‘with you’ by Chris Brown.

My role model is… My role model would have to be my mum because whatever pathway I wish to take whether it is in performing arts or a finance job she would support me 100% of the way. But… I do love Cara Delevinge and Candice Swanepol.

When I am not at insetp I also like to… Go out to London and people watch, and to also try and find famous people that would possibly want to marry me.

What dance company or choreographer is your biggest inspiration and why? I have always, always wanted to go to the WildaBeast Adams street School in LA, but I would love to go to Italia Conti which is based in London. I don’t have a favourite choreographer but my favourite dance duet would have to be ‘Appologise’ by a dance company called Dance Precisions.

What would be your dream job? My dream job would to be T.V presenter for shows such as MTV, I’m a Celebrity and at festivals! However, I could never not imagine a life without dance. In 5 years time I hope to be finishing an honours degree course in English Literature and Presenting, or either finishing a dance uni. Whatever I do I would love to within show business.
